Learning Objectives

CLASS DESCRIPTION: Students explore an overview of the profession through the historical and philosophical base of the profession, the structure of local, state, and national organizations, the various roles of the occupational therapist, practice settings, and the Occupational Therapy Code of Ethics. Students learn the importance of occupation, the impact of disruption in occupation at various junctures in the lifespan, and are introduced to theories, models, and frames of reference guiding OT Practice.


At the end of this library instruction, students will be able to:

  1. Identify resources and services available through NSU Libraries.
  2. Locate and access databases and resources relevant to their research needs.
  3. Develop effective search terms.
  4. Perform a directed, exhaustive literature search.
  5. Utilize Boolean operators and other filters to refine their search results.
