The John Vaughan Library supports the university curriculum by providing limited access to supplementary materials that have been designated by the faculty to assist in meeting their course objectives. The goal of the library reserve department is to provide a convenient and restricted environment for high use and on-demand materials. The reserve department encourages faculty, staff and students to use the reserve services to enhance and broaden the scope of course curriculum through the use of provided complementary resources.
The Reserve/Audio-Visuals area of the John Vaughan Library is located at the north end of the building, near the parking lot entrance. A sign is posted above the desk to designate the area. The Reserve area of the library on the Broken Arrow campus is behind the second floor circulation desk. The reserve desks are open during regular library hours. All items need to be return 15 minutes before closing to assure proper check-in.
Access to reserve materials is more restricted than other library collections. Since ready and equal access to these material is critical, stiff fines are assessed for materials kept beyond the loan period. Loan periods can vary from 1 hour to 7 days. Reserve items have sensitive loan periods and overdue fines will immediately be charged to the patron's account. Fines for hourly reserves accrue at the rate of $.25 per hour, up to a maximum of $30.00. Reserve items may be renewed provided there is not a hold for another patron. Items are not to leave the library unless specified.
Scanners are available on the first and second floors of the library in Tahlequah and on both floors of the library in Broken Arrow. A copy machine is also available in each library. The copy machine costs $.10 per copy and makes both regular letter size or legal size copies. Scanners are provided to students at no charge and they provide the student the option to either scan a document to their L (or flash) drive or use the copy machine to make copies.
Located right next to the Reserve desk, this area has models and slides available for students taking anatomy and optometry courses.

Materials will be placed on reserve at the request of an instructor. Materials are intended for non-commercial and educational use ONLY.
The University Library can place the following types of materials on Reserve:
Materials can only remain on Reserve for one semester at a time. To comply with Copyright laws, all "personal copy" reserve items must be taken off reserve between semesters. The materials that will again be used for the following semester may remain housed at the Reserve desk between semesters. If the materials will not need to be used again they will be sent back to you through campus mail. All reserve items must be accompanied by a completed reserve request or removal form (see below).
Reserve materials will be processed in the order that they are received. Processing time for reserve items can vary depending on the type and amount of materials. Please do not refer students to materials immediately after submitting a request.
For copyrighted materials, the copyright warning notice will appear on the first printed page.
Reserve items are made available in the following formats:
Materials chosen by faculty/staff and placed on reserve for instructional use in registered courses. Reserve materials may include articles, books, magazines, class notes, artifacts and videos. See the "Course Reserves" link below. You are able to search for reserve items by either the course number (e.g., HIST 2723), or the professor's last name (e.g., vovchenko). Or, you can just browse/scroll through the list of courses.
Faculty: Allow at least 3 working days for processing. Please try to limit the number of copies for a single article/printed material to 3 copies.
Selected materials that are continuously on reserve. These are materials that require strict circulation rules due to high usage and demand. Permanent reserves include such materials as the University Annual Budget, sample tests such as the GED, CPA, MCAT, and the GRE, along with other study guide material. In the "Course Reserves" search box (link below), type "permanent" and hit enter to see the holdings.
Materials within the library collections such as music CDs, educational films used for supplemental course related materials, leisure films and audio books.
Our current Discovery system does not allow for electronic reserves at this time. We recommend making materials available to students through Blackboard.
