We are pleased and excited to announce the inaugural Green Country Children's Book Festival on the campus of Northeastern State University (NSU) in Tahlequah, Oklahoma, on Friday, October 7, 2022!
Our aim is for the Green Country Children's Book Festival to empower middle grade readers to reach their full intellectual potential by offering engaging interactions with diverse authors (and/or illustrators) and expanding a culture of learning, discovery, and empathy.
For this first year, we will focus on 4th and 5th grade students who attend rural schools in and around Cherokee County, Oklahoma. LIMITED AVAILABILITY: 400 students will attend the morning session from approximately 9:00 a.m. - 11:00 a.m. and another 400 will attend the afternoon session from approximately 12:30 - 2:30 p.m. Please look for official registration to open Monday, August 8, to reserve space for your school/students.
The Green Country Children's Book Festival will feature five middle grade authors/illustrators: Ally Carter, Sarah Mlynowski, Christina Soontornvat, MaryBeth Timothy, and Brian Lee Young. Each student who attends the festival will receive a FREE book written or illustrated by one of these creators. Please visit the "Meet the Authors" tab to learn more about these creative individuals!
The Green Country Children's Book Festival will be hosted by the Northeastern State University Libraries and the Festival will be held in the NSU University Center on the Tahlequah campus.
