SPECIAL
COLLECTIONS contains particular materials relating to the history
and culture of the Cherokee Indians, other tribes of Oklahoma and the
state of Oklahoma, with emphasis on the Northeastern Oklahoma region.
Special Collections houses materials relating to the history and founding of NSU which has roots in early Cherokee education. The books housed in Special Collections are found through the online catalog.
Indexes to the uncataloged materials are available in Special Collections, and staff members are always present to assist those who wish to use the resources in the area.
All students, faculty, staff, and visitors are invited to use these collections. A reading room is provided for users, since materials in Special Collections are non-circulating and must be used in the area. Patrons are requested to observe special rules designed to preserve the unique items in Special Collections. Photocopying of materials in the area is done on request by the staff when there is no danger of injury to the materials and when the request is in accordance with Copyright Law.
Special Collections is located on the second floor of the library and is open from 8 am to 12 pm and 1 pm to 5 pm Monday through Friday when school is in session.
