Database Apps



Our licenses now entitle all NSUOCO students, faculty, and residents to access Clinical Key & First Consult and UpToDate whenever and wherever they need on their Smartphone or tablet using the mobile apps that are available for both Apple and Android devices.

To gain access to the mobile apps, you must first REGISTER FROM A COMPUTER ON THE NSU NETWORK, create a user name (use your NSU email address), and create your own password.


1. Register to use Clinical Key & First Consult

From the Library Resources for Optometry page at http://library.nsuok.edu/collegeop/, click on Clinical Key & First Consult under “Research & Clinical Databases”. Click on “Register” in the upper right hand corner of the screen.

Complete the form and use your NSU email address as your user name. Indicate you have read the “Registered User Agreement” and click “Register”.

2. Register to Use UpToDate

From the Library Resources for Optometry page at http://library.nsuok.edu/collegeop/, on UpToDate under “Research & Clinical Databases”. Click on “Register” in the upper right hand corner of the screen OR click on “Register Now” in the bar at the bottom of the screen

Complete the form and use your NSU email address as your user name. Click “Submit Registration”.

Download the Apps

Download the Clinical Key app. Open the App Store on your mobile device. Search for “Clinical Key” and install at no charge. Once in the app, two options will appear. Click on “Clinical Key”. Login with your Clinical Key username and password (the ones you created when you registered) and start using the Clinical Key App. You will be prompted once every 90 days to re-verify your affiliation with NSU by re-entering your Clinical Key username and password.

Download the UpToDate app. Open the App Store on your mobile device. Search for “UpToDate” and install at no charge. Open the UpToDate mobile app and login with your UpToDate username and password (the ones you created when you registered). You will be prompted once every 90 days to re-verify your affiliation with NSU by re-entering your UpToDate username and password.

In addition to the Mobile Apps, you can still access Clinical Key & First Consult and UpToDate online from any computer with Internet access as long as you begin your search from the Library Resources for Optometry page at http://library.nsuok.edu/collegeop/
