  • External Environment and Industry Environment

  • Below are several databases that should be useful for this portion of the assignment. A sample search strategy might include entering terms/phrases such as "higher education" (be sure to use quotation marks around phrases), trends, and business. As a general rule, it may be best to enter each term or phrase in a separate search box.

    ABI/Inform
    Academic Search Premier
    Chronicle of Higher Education
    Education Full Text
    Newsbank

The College Board's Data, Reports & Research section provides reports, data, and information on trends in higher education:

The NSU Library catalog can be used to identify books on business education, and trends in higher education in general. For example, pull up the Advanced Keyword search screen on the catalog, change the left drop down menu from the default of Any Field to Subject, and enter the valid subject heading: business and education (do not use quotation marks when searching the Library catalog). To locate books only on the Tahlequah campus, for example, change the location box to read John Vaughan Main Collection. To locate books found on the BA campus, change the location box to read Broken Arrow. Also, try other keywords and keyword combinations to identify additional books on the topic when using the Library catalog.

  • Opportunities and Threats, and Internal Resources

  • -The NSU College of Business and Technology 2007/2008 proposed budget is on library reserve for the class, under Dr. Crockett's name.

-Some of the above databases may be useful for obtaining information on competitors.

-The use of search engines can also be useful for finding information on competitors.
