Library Guide for Management 4213 (Business Policy)

The NSU John Vaughan Library provides access to many books and databases which can be useful for the case analysis and strategic alternatives assignments.

To learn what the library has in terms of paper and electronic books, please consult the online library catalog. In addition, to search for books not owned by the NSU Library you may wish to use WorldCat, which is best described as an international library catalog. For assistance, please feel free to contact the Business and Technology resource coordinator.

WorldCat can help identify books owned by other libraries which can be borrowed for you, free of charge.  To request a book from another library, stop by either Reference or Circulation in the library, or take a look at the Interlibrary Loan Department web page.

The NSU Library web site provides access to a variety of online databases which can be used to find pertinent periodical literature and data.  Some of the most useful databases and indexes for the overall assignment include ABI/Inform, Business Source Premier, Mergent, Morningstar, NetAdvantage, ThomasNet, Thomson (Thompson works best with Explorer), and Value Line (On-campus access) / Value Line (Off-campus access). ABI/Inform is a periodical index and full text article database. Mergent, Morningstar, and Thomson provide a variety of statistics and reports on companies and industries. Mergent also provides information on private companies. Value Line provides descriptive and investment information on companies, including historical price performance and projections of key financial measures. ThomasNet profiles manufacturers and distributors, and their products.

Some foreign websites provide information on companies based in their countries. For example, information on British companies is available through Companies House.
